# Reef Points

Reef Points are a system for measuring Coach [Prestige](/the-ocean-racing-league/ocean-racing-league/coach-buffs/prestige.md) and are awarded to a coach for a strong performance by their team.\

Reef Points are awarded to the Coach of the top 10 teams in 'The Reef' Playoffs (weekly championship races). \
\
**The higher the finishing position, the more Reef Points a coach will earn.**<br>

### Special Events

Special events and prestigious tournaments yield greater Reef Points and sometimes to more teams than the top 10.

*\*Reef points can never be sold or transferred to another Coach, only earned!*

*\*Like Prestige, Reef Points will stay with a Coach. But unlike Prestige, they will be reset if a coach is promoted to a new Class level*\ <br>
