# Prestige

The Prestige level and Class of a coach determine the buffs a coach has unlocked. Prestige level increases when a coach obtains enough [Reef Points](/the-ocean-racing-league/ocean-racing-league/coach-buffs/prestige/reef-points.md) to reach the next level. *(as shown below)*.

Prestige is permanent and stays with a coach even when transferred or sold to another team.
